| A: DePopper 2 writes wav files using the wav format that Microsoft defined in the beginning of the 90s. It was the only wav format in that time, but years later Microsoft started to use a slightly different variation of that format, with two more bytes in the header. DePopper continued writing with the same old format, to keep compatibility with new and old programs. However, recently many new programs started to have problems to open the old format, so when releasing version 3 we decided to use the new format, with two more bytes in the header. This makes DePopper 3 compatible with new programs, which are the vast majority today, but some old programs that expected to load only the old format can have problems with files written with DePopper 3. If you want to use version 3, but you need files writen with the old format, you have two options: configure your DePopper 3 to use an external command line converter (format option EXT in Advanced Options), if you have one, or use version 2 with all options unchecked to convert your _NEW files to the old format. |
